Challenge Quest (8-14 Years)
NEW FOR 2013 - Register online and SAVE!
Opens Jan 16, 2013

What to Expect - Challenge Quest! Are you up for it?
A unique experience that engages campers in a range of stimulating, hands-on activities based around a two-week challenge theme. Each theme's main challenge focuses on STEM and computer skills. Kids have a blast exploring, creating, and testing their wildest ideas. If you have an interest in building things, or taking them apart, getting out and about around Buffalo, while mixing in some swimming and sports, all in a FUN, high energy format, then this is the camp! At the end of each session the campers present their challenges to friends and family.

Robot Olympics- based around different Olympic events. Design, build and program a Lego Mindstorm robot to compete in challenges such as relay races, the javelin, and a tractor pull.
Be a brickfilmer. Create your own lego stop motion animation using the iPad app iMotion HD and iMovie.

Defying Gravity - Simply put, make things that sink and float! Build a variety of hovercrafts, one big enough for you to race down the gym on! Make a simple hot air balloon, kites, planes, rockets, boats and submarines. Compete in teams to construct a variety of methods of transportation powered by different sources.

Rube Goldberg Machines - Can you design and build a complicated machine to solve a very simple task? Work in small teams using a variety of technologies to create solutions to problems using your creative skills, while also focusing on STEM and computer skills.

Activities
"Minute to Win It" challenges develop creative problem solving, time management, improvisation, critical thinking, teamwork and leadership skills. A highlight of the morning program, campers will experience the excitement, intensity and wow-factor of developing their challenge solutions in small, effective groups.

The group burns off some physical energy through a range of fun sports activities that change daily. Choices include climbing the rock wall, basketball, Kan Jam and badminton. Challenge Quest also swims for fun twice times a week at a local pool. The use of the camp’s underwater camera is a huge crowd pleaser!

Weekly field trips will visit a variety of locations in Western New York and encourage a sense of exploration and fun. Investigating electricity and making your hair stand on end at the Power Vista, feeding the giraffes at the Buffalo Zoo, and supporting a Bison game downtown. Everyone’s tastes are accounted for!
