Are you a budding foodie? Here’s something you can really sink your teeth into! Come measure, mix, sizzle, stir, sauté, create and explore with us. Gain useful kitchen skills and try all kinds of tasty tidbits. Whip up a wide variety of recipes and learn some interesting food science at the same time. Bon appetit! This same camp is offered twice this summer (wk. 1 and wk. 4). The content will be the same both weeks.
Farm to Table
Eat well and be well as you learn to cook wonderful-tasting and nutritionally balanced meals made only from what we can buy locally. Campers will visit either a local farm, farmers’ markets, or local restaurants, and cook up recipes that make the best use of our regional ingredients. Learn about Western New York in a tasty new way! This same camp is offered twice this summer (wk. 2 and wk. 5). The content will be the same both weeks.
This is the cooking camp where you will do it all! This week campers will make almost everything from scratch. Need butter for a recipe, they'll make it from scratch. No boxes or mixes here, campers will bake everything from scratch... bread, cupcakes, cookies. The possibilities are endless for all of our young foodies out there. This same camp is offered twice this summer (wk. 3 and wk. 6). The content will be the same both weeks.
Have you seen the outfit completely made out of Post-it notes? Are you interested in recycling and reusing? This camp session will encourage children to think outside of the box. Design your very own clothing and accessories using treasures that others might call trash.
Design, build, and program a Lego Mindstorms robot to compete in challenges, such as relay races, tug-of-war, catapolts, and battle-bot wrestling. Teamwork and cooperation are highlighted for camper and robot successes.
Are you a budding author? Do you love to sit outside and write down your thoughts? This camp session will encourage young writers to expand on their ideas and create stories, songs, and poems. The writing process will be explored over the week. Campers will finish this camp with individual and group projects.
This camp has taken up the charge to make Buffalo an even better city to live in. This camp will focus on Community Service within the Buffalo area. Plans are already underway to help deliver Meals on Wheels, clean up public areas, volunteer with young children, and help where we can. What a fantastic way for our campers to spend a week of their summer... giving back to their community! We are proud to offer this new camp in Summer 2018!
EFS Summer Camp Invention
We’ll make creative use of a variety of unusual objects, such as wooden crates, bubble wrap, light rope, paint rollers, hair curlers, PVC piping, and much more to build all kinds of artful contraptions. Investigate the nuts and bolts of building and see everyday materials in a whole new way as we re-imagine and re-invent together.
Sports- A sports camp with a difference! Get active and experience some of the newest and most exciting sports in WNY. Kick off another sports-filled summer camp with a week filled with fitness activities. Campers will participate in yoga, cross-fit, obstacle courses, as well as team games and sports. Campers will make new and exciting healthy snacks to round out the full-body experience.
